The Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona is currently ongoing, and we’ve seen plenty of great devices announced thus far. Samsung and LG have introduced their new flagship smartphones, while Huawei, Lenovo, ZTE and plenty other companies had something to present as well. Xiaomi took the stage in Barcelona earlier today, and has introduced their Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship, their long-awaited smartphone that was expected to be announced last year actually. We’ve already introduced that smartphone, and talked more about its specs, and are here now to take a look at its global availability details, read on.
Hugo Barra was the keynote speaker for Xiaomi in Barcelona, and he talked in detail about the company’s newest flagship. At the end of the event, he did mention availability and pricing details, though only for China. As far as global availability, Hugo Barra did say that the device will roll out to India really soon, and he has also mentioned that other market globally will follow soon after. Now, he did act kind of strange when he mentioned ‘global markets’, he laughed in a rather interesting way, like he wants us to know Xiaomi is up to something. Could this mean the company will finally start selling their devices in Europe and the U.S.? Well, everything points to that fact, but we’ll have to wait and see what exactly is Xiaomi planning. Now, Xiaomi has introduced one smartphone, but has decided to name their 4GB RAM (+128GB of internal storage) variant ‘Xiaomi Mi 5 Pro’, not only because that’s their highest-end Mi 5 smartphone, but also because it’s a special edition ceramic version of the phone. The ‘regular’ variant of the device sports 3GB of RAM, and comes with either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage. This smartphone sports a 5.15-inch fullHD display, and is fueled by the Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor. The 16-megapixel OIS camera is placed on the back of the device, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes out of the box here. NFC and dual-SIM are also a part of the package, and 4G LTE with VoLTE is also supported by Xiaomi’s newest flagship.
