Add Tasks to Todoist Using Natural Language with Latest Update

Smartphones and tablets are great for helping us to keep tab of todo lists and there are plenty of apps offering these services with all sorts of features. Todoist is one of the mainstream platforms, offering a great set of solutions for a wide range of devices. One interesting feature is that it allows users to use natural language to add tasks, so if you write something like “watch House of Cards this evening” it will create a reminder for the evening. A recent update for the Android version brought in new features and made the platform smarter, with improvements over the natural language processing.

Todoist has a strong business focus and it is possible to organize your tasks by projects, and you can assign tasks to specific users. The new feature, called Intelligent Input, allows you to put new tasks directly into a project, and also assign them to other users, all inside the same text. To add a task to a project, just type “#project name”. To assign another user you have to type “+user name”. As tablets are getting stronger on productivity, another important improvement is the addition of Bluetooth keyboard support, especially with the arrival of Android N and its new multitasking features. Additionally, the app got a subtle refresh on the interface, with small UI and UX improvements on some items. Last but not least important, the notification system also got some attention: sync has been updated and now works up to 4 times faster than before, thus reducing battery drain, and notifications dismissed in other devices will now be automatically dismissed on the current device as well.

Todoist has been around for years and it is available for Android smartphones and tablets, Android Wear smartwatches, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Chromebooks, Mac, Windows, Chrome and Firefox browsers, Gmail and Outlook, which is very good for teams with users on different platforms. There’s a free plan with limited functionalities and a premium plan that adds a plethora of features such as e-mail reminders, location-based alerts, auto-backup, and so on. Additionally, there’s a business-focused plan which allows a larger number of users per project and features to manage these users. Both premium and business plans cost $28.99 per year.
