Samsung has unveiled their Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge flagships during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona last month. These two devices resemble their predecessors quite a bit, and yet Samsung managed to polish them out even further. The two phones have been available for pre-order from various carriers for a while now, including a number of those in the U.S., and it seems like some of those U.S.-based carriers have started shipping out pre-orders, read on.
Now, as you probably already know, T-Mobile started shipping out pre-ordered units a couple of days ago, and it’s AT&T’s and Sprint’s turn now. The two carriers have joined T-Mobile and are now shipping both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge to consumers who pre-ordered the device. In addition to that, keep in mind that the two phones will start selling on March 11th. Verizon is also expected to start shipping out pre-ordered units soon, while the U.S. Cellular and Cricket Wireless will be selling the devices regularly. Now, what’s interesting here, is the fact that the three aforementioned carriers (T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint) actually started shipping devices sooner than expected, so consumers will get their units ahead of time.
The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are both fueled by the Snapdragon 820 SoC in the U.S., though Exynos 8890 variants are available elsewhere as well. The two devices ship with 4GB of RAM on the inside, and sport Super AMOLED displays. The Galaxy S7 comes with a 5.1-inch QHD panel, while the Galaxy S7 Edge sports a 5.5-inch QHD panel. The 12-megapixel ‘Dual-Pixel’ snapper is placed on the back of these two phones, and a 5-megapixel shooter is placed up front. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on these phones, and Samsung’s TouchWiz is available on top of Google’s OS, as always. The two phones are made from metal and glass once again, just like their predecessors, but their design has been altered so that they fit in the hand better, and their bezels are also thinner this time around. That is more or less it, stay tuned for further Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge availability updates.
