Innovative design is always something smartphone manufacturers are trying to achieve. Samsung did a great job with the Galaxy S6 Edge last year, and simply built upon that this year. Huawei took a slightly different approach with the Nexus 6P, as did ZTE with their Axon line. There are tons of examples like these out in the market right now, and even though it’s getting harder and harder to innovate in terms of the design, some smartphone manufacturers still do it.
That being said, pretty much every single one of us appreciates nice smartphone design, even though it’s somewhat unrealistic. Well, that’s what concept designs are for, they usually represent great hardware (and sometimes software), but it’s quite likely we won’t see such smartphones launched anytime soon. Well, we have yet another such design to share with you, this time we’re looking at the so-called ‘Asus Ecchellon X One’. This design comes from ‘Concept Phones’ by Hege, as many other concept designs did before it. This Asus handset certainly looks quite sleek, and has an incredibly high screen-to-body ratio. Side bezels are basically non-existent here, and the top and bottom ones are really thin as well. The phone seems to be made out of metal, and the Asus branding in the upper left corner also looks quite sleek and fits with the overall design language. The fingerprints scanner is placed on the back of this device, while its power / lock key is placed on the right.
Now, according to the designer, this smartphone sports a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display (with Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 on top), 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The phone is fueled by Intel’s SoC, and a 3,500mAh non-removable battery is also a part of this package. The 16-megapixel snapper is placed on the back of this phone, along with a dual-LED flash, while there’s an 8-megapixel shooter located up front, and it is also flanked by an LED flash. Android 7.0 comes pre-installed here, and the UI also looks quite interesting. This is a well-designed smartphone, no doubt about it, but we probably won’t see anything similar hit the market anytime soon, of course.
