Huawei has been one of the most interesting smartphone manufacturers last year. This company has managed to become the world’s third largest smartphone OEM, and has sold around 108 million smartphones, which is quite a feat for Huawei. That being said, they’re looking to improve upon that this year, and their first high-end device(s) is expected to be announced on April 6th.
Huawei has already confirmed their press event in London, and judging by the amount of teasers, rumors, leaks and the general timeframe of the event, the company will almost certainly launch their P9 line of devices. The Huawei P9, P9 Lite and P9 Max are expected to see the light of day on April 6th, and we already have quite a few details when it comes to these phones, at least when it comes to the Huawei P9. The company has already opened the launch page on their official website which contains a countdown timer, and has confirmed that the Huawei P9 will be made out of metal, and that its body will contain chamfered edges. On top of this, they’ve also confirmed that a fingerprint scanner will be located on the back of this device, and that the phone will ship with two camera sensors on the back.
Now, according to the latest rumor, the Huawei P9 will sport a pressure sensitive display, and will be fueled by the Kirin 955 64-bit octa-core processor. Now, Huawei has already released a smartphone with a pressure sensitive display, the Mate S, so this is not exactly their first rodeo as far as that is concerned. The Kirin 955 SoC also makes sense, that is Huawei’s homegrown chip, and the P9 will definitely sport either the 950 or 955. Now, the pressure sensitive display on the Huawei P9 might have some extra functionality as well, it might feature what is called a ‘Knuckle Pressure-Sensitive Technology’, which is basically an improved ‘Knuckle Touch’ tech that was included in the Huawei P8 line of devices.
On top of all this, previous rumors suggest that the Huawei P9 will sport a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, along with 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of internal storage. The two cameras on the back will reportedly pack in 13-megapixel sensors, and the Huawei P9 is expected to ship with a 5-megapixel front-facing unit. The Huawei P9 line will be introduced on April 6th, stay tuned.
