T-Mobile is the last of the four US carriers to open up pre-order for the LG G5 – which officially launches on Friday, April 1st. However, customers will likely see their LG G5 hit their doorstep ahead of time. This morning, T-Mobile made the LG G5 available for pre-order which starts at $0 down and $26.25 per month for 23 months (the 24th month is $26.24). That makes the full retail price $629, with Verizon only offering it at a cheaper price, which is $624. It’s a bit cheaper than the Galaxy S7 from Samsung, but not a whole lot cheaper. T-Mobile is offering up a free second battery and charging cable along with the LG 360 Cam for those that order through April 17th. Now these will not ship with your LG G5, you’ll have to put your order in on LG’s promotion website to get them in a month or two. A bit unfortunate, but that’s the way these things go.
The LG G5 is the fifth-generation G series flagship from LG. And it has a 5.3-inch 2560×1440 resolution display, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage with a microSD card slot, along with a removable 2800mAh battery. There are two cameras on the back, one is a 16MP camera and other is a 8MP sensor that is a wide-angle camera. You’ll be able to switch between the two to get whatever picture you’d like. LG is also running Android 6.0 Marshmallow on the LG G5 along with their Optimus UI over top.
LG had originally removed the app drawer on the LG G5, but after hearing the feedback from customers, even before the phone launched, LG has decided to bring it back and it will be available at launch. So there will likely be a software update when you first power on your new LG G5. T-Mobile hasn’t said when these phones will start shipping, but it looks like those that have overnight shipping will receive it as early as tomorrow, March 30th. Which is right on par for T-Mobile, who usually ships phones ahead of the official release. For example, the Galaxy S7 launched about a week after T-Mobile started shipping them.
