Meizu Will Announce New Flagship On April 12th

We haven’t heard much from Meizu in the first two months of this year, but a ton of content has been popping up since the beginning of March. The company is going to host two press events next month, and they’ve already confirmed via social media that the first event will be held on April 6th. That’s not all though, Meizu has also confirmed that they will introduce the M3 Note mid-range at that event, which was to be expected considering the amount of leaks and rumors we’ve seen.

That being said, we knew that the other event is reserved for Meizu’s flagship, but we had no idea when will that happen. Well, now we do, thanks to our very reliable source, we know that April 12th is reserved for the announcement of Meizu’s all-new flagship. Now, the source did not reveal which device we’re talking about here though, so it’s either the Meizu MX6 or PRO 6. We’ve seen seeing tons of PRO 6 leaks thus far, the device has popped up on Geekbench, GFXBench and AnTuTu quite recently, not to mention Meizu’s execs have also shared some info when it comes to this phone. It has been confirmed that the PRO 6 will ship with a fullHD (1920 x 1080) pressure sensitive display, and that it will be fueled by the Helio X25 64-bit deca-core processor provided by MediaTek. On the other hand, we do not have that much info when the MX6 is concerned, so chances are we’ll see the PRO 6 announced, even though the PRO 5 was introduced back in September.

According to all the info we have at the moment, both official and leaked, the Meizu PRO 6 will feature a fullHD (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display (we still don’t know its size, but you can expect it to be around 5.7-inches), 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of internal storage. The 3GB RAM variant will quite probably ship with 32GB of internal storage, while the 4GB RAM model will come with 64GB of included native storage. MediaTek’s Helio X25 SoC will fuel this handset, as already mentioned, and you can expect the phone to be made out of metal. Meizu’s ‘mBack’ physical home key will be placed below the display, and a fingerprint scanner will be included on the inside. Android Lollipop or Marshmallow will come pre-installed here, and on top of it, you’ll be able to find Meizu’s Flyme UI. The 21-megapixel shooter will be included on the back, according to benchmarks, and a 5-megapixel snapper will be available up front.
