Oppo R9 & R9 Plus Will Launch On March 17th, Pricing Leaks

Oppo is one of the most popular smartphone manufacturers in China. This company is not that well-known outside of China, but plenty of consumers in that Asian country use Oppo’s smartphones. Oppo has actually managed to sell 50 million smartphones last year, which is considered to be a great success for the company. That being said, the Oppo R7 and R7 Plus were amongst the most popular Oppo devices last year, and the Oppo R9 & R9 Plus rumors have been popping up for quite some time now. These two phones were actually certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC), and now we actually know when will these two handsets going to be announced, read on.

The company has released an official teaser on their official Weibo (Chinese social network) account, and by doing that confirmed that the Oppo R9 and R9 Plus will be introduced on March 17th. The devices will be announced at the Beijing Performing Arts Center at 3 PM China Time. Now, thanks to TENAA’s listing, we basically know what specifications will these two handsets sports, and what will they look like. If you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll get to see both of these devices, and as you can see, they’re pretty much identical in terms of the design. The Oppo R9 Plus is, however, somewhat bigger than the regular R9. Speaking of which, let’s take a look at their specs, shall we.

The Oppo R9 will feature a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display, along with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. This device will be fueled by an octa-core SoC (quite probably a mid-range one), and a 2,850mAh battery will be included on the inside. Oppo’s well-known VOOC Rapid Charge will be a part of this package, but we still don’t know if this will be the last-gen tech Oppo introduced during MWC. The 16-megapixel snapper will be included on the back of this phone, and the device will also ship with two SIM card slots. Android 5.1 Lollipop will come pre-installed here, and on top of it, you’ll be able to find Oppo’s Color OS UI. It is also worth mentioning that this handset will sport a physical home button as well, which will double as a fingerprint scanner. The Oppo R9 Plus, on the other hand, will ship with a 6-inch fullHD AMOLED panel, Now, unlike the Oppo R9, this smartphone will ship with an octa-core processor (quite probably a mid-range one as well), will sport 64GB of internal storage, and a 4,120mAh battery will be included on the inside. Now, aside from the differences listed above, these two handsets will be more or less identical in every other aspect.

Now, if you take a look at the last image in the gallery down below, you’ll get to see Oppo R9 leaked pricing. According to the image, the Oppo R9 will sell for 2,498 Yuan ($383) in China, while the larger Oppo R9 Plus will cost 2,998 Yuan ($460 for the 64GB model, and 3,298 Yuan ($505) for the 128GB model. Keep in mind that this pricing is not confirmed yet, so take this info with a grain of salt.
