Back in March 2015, HTC unveiled to the US their new One M9 and announced a new HTC UH-OH Protection plan. This warranty was not like other, so-called ‘limited’ warranties, offered by other manufacturers. HTC designed the warranty for those Uh-Oh moments that surprise everybody – and it was provided as a FREE service from HTC for one year from the date of purchase. Now, HTC is pushing their new unlocked HTC 10 through their Canadian website for $999 ($100 off using discount code HTCCA1008) and promising customers their new device will ship within three business days. Some early buyers saw what you see below, that HTC’s Uh Oh Protection plan was coming along with your purchase. However, according to an HTC statement to our source, the “Uh Oh Protection is not offered in Canada. HTC is updating the wording on the purchase page for clarity.”
HTC’s Uh-Oh Protection plan is a great idea – if you buy a new HTC device, and if you crack your screen or suffer water damage within one-year from the date of purchase, HTC will cover the repair costs, and it will cost you nothing. Another feature of the protection plan is if you do not have to use it within that year period, HTC will give you a $100 towards the purchase of your next HTC device – very cool. HTC claims that other manufacturers view protection warranties as just another way to make money off of the customer’s misfortune. But one has to wonder why HTC does not extend this protection plan to Canada? HTC brags about its Uh-Oh Protection plan and how other manufacturers are ripping off customers but comes up short when it comes to purchasing an HTC 10 in Canada and offering no coverage.
The HTC 10 is a beautiful looking smartphone with its all-metal body that looks like it was chiseled out a solid block of aluminum. It sports a 5.2-inch LCD QHD display with 565 pixels-per-inch (PPI) and uses the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor with 4GB of DDR4 RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. They included a 5MP front-facing camera (FFC) with a f/1.8 aperture, wide-angle lens, screen flash and even OIS to ensure great selfies even in low light and an excellent video chat. The HTC packs a 3000mAh non-removable battery with Quick Charge 3.0.
