While this week is bound to be a big one with HTC set to unveil their flagship phone for 2016, this past week saw device announcements from Huawei in both the smartphone and wearables department. This past Tuesday, Huawei officially took the wraps off of their brand-new P9 and P9 Plus handsets, both of which come equipped with a dual camera setup by Leica, and they also unveiled their all-new Talkband wearable. Althouhg recent details have suggested that BlackBerry may be exiting the handset business, BlackBerry’s CEO has confirmed this past week that theyhave two mid-range handsets planned for launch this year, meaning they aren’t completely finished with the smartphone market just yet.
Samsung filed a patent recently for a device called the Gear Blink, said to be a smart lens, and they also trademarked the name Gear Blink. Back at Mobile World Congress Samsung showed off their Gear 360 wireless camera, and this past week it showed up online with a listing for $350 suggesting it has a pretty hefty price tag. Although it hasn’t yet been officially announced, another big Chinese brand is set to unveil their next flagship handset, as Meizu confirmed that the Meizu Pro 6 will be launching on April 13th.
