Google Highlights The Wonders Of HTC Vive App Tilt Brush

Virtual reality devices are starting to become more known in the public eye, especially now with the HTC Vive headsets having started to ship out to buyers around the globe starting today. Since the Vive has begun to arrive on doorsteps, it seems only fitting that apps which are made specifically for the Vive receive some attention. Although this is not the first that users have heard of the app, today Google is bringing attention to the app which they have created for HTC’s VR headset, called Tilt Brush, which lets users paint virtually anything they want in a three-dimensional environment thanks to the power of the Vive and the technology that drives it.

Tilt Brush is much more than just a simple paint application, and this is thanks to the virtual space that users will be painting in, using the paddles as brushes and a tool to select the different types of brushes and different colors to use. If you haven’t had the opportunity to paint in the immersive world of Tilt Brush before, you’re really in for a treat especially if you love to be creative. The image above depicts a good example of what users are able to do within Tilt Brush, although it’s really just the tip of the iceberg in terms of limitations.

Since everything is in virtual reality and three-dimensional, you can essentially paint all around you and walk through the creation as if you were in it. It’s almost like painting with the air as your canvas, which might take some getting used to as painting or drawing is usually done on a 2D surface, or on a computer screen etc. Tilt Brush doesn’t just let users paint with different brush types or colors though, it also lets the user add things to their paintings like fire, snowflakes, and more that will really make the paintings that much more lively. If you have an HTC Vive headset and you want to pick up Tilt Brush for your unit, you’ll need to have a Steam account setup, and pick the game up from the Steam client, Steam website, or the Steam Android app. Tilt Brush is available from today at $29.99.
