The HTC 10 was recently officially announced by HTC and as you may have already learned, the company has made some changes to the BoomSound setup this year. BoomSound is still very much part of the HTC 10 flagship, and while the term might no longer refer to the front-facing speaker setup itself, HTC still uses the brand in order to describe the new Hi-Fi audio experience delivered by its latest premium phone. The old audio profile systems descending from Beats Audio and BoomSound have been replaced by an HTC Personal Audio Profile capable of adjusting sound frequencies for each ear dynamically, and with the new Hi-Fi setup the company promises “the best BoomSound yet”. Sure enough, the HTC 10 is reportedly accompanied by a pair of decent headphones too, but for audiophiles and HTC 10 prospective customers looking for superior audio quality, the Taiwanese smartphone maker has teamed up with JBL for the creation of a new pair of USB Type-C noise-cancelling earphones.
The JBL Reflect Aware C headphones are now listed along with several other accessories on the official HTC website in the U.S., where the company describes the product as the “world’s first USB-C sport earphone with noise cancellation and adaptive noise control”. The earphones promise to deliver “better than CD level music”; they feature 14.8 mm Dynamic drivers with frequency response of 10Hz -22 kHz, and allow users to adjust the noise levels of their surroundings. They are also tagged as sweat-proof; they’re accompanied by three differently-sized standard and sport tips, and feature tangle-free reflective cables as well as an in-line microphone. Last but not least, since the headphones are powered by the USB Type-C connector, the drivers should operate at their full potential and HTC claims that they will deliver “JBL signature sound”, in conjunction with HTC’s 24-bit Hi-Res DAC and thanks to the smartphone’s capabilities of upscaling audio tracks to 24-bit.
The JBL Reflect Aware C earphones will be available in black and white, however, at this point HTC is keeping quiet in regards to the earphones’ price and release date. More details should be revealed in the coming weeks, on or around HTC 10’s release day.
