Earlier this week, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge both got a pretty big update to fix a few issues, but it also brought in a new feature. One of those features is “Display Scaling”. It’s located under Settings > Display. Of course, it’s not available on the US carrier models as those have not received this update yet. But if you have received an update recently for the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge, you likely have this update.
Display Scaling is just what you think it is. And that’s a way to change the DPI without needing to root your smartphone. That’s a pretty neat feature to be added to the device. This was a feature that was commonly talked about on various forums, where Samsung users would go about getting help on making the Galaxy S7 an even better device. While some people want larger items on their screens, some do want smaller items. And with Display Scaling, users can choose which one they want to have.
There has clearly been some big changes going around at Samsung as of late. Especially on the software side of things. We are seeing updates for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge coming in pretty steady since its release last month. Additionally, both devices got this month’s security path a mere week after Nexus devices. Which is something you have never seen before from Samsung. Even the Verizon Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are on the April patch already. On top of that, we are also seeing some new features coming in new updates. Something that Samsung doesn’t typically do, as they usually keep new features for their next flagship. As a way to get users to upgrade to their new smartphone.
The update for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge did start rolling out this week in some regions. It should be making its way into some others in the near future. We should also see it hitting the carrier models in the next few weeks once certification is done for these models. Head to Settings > About Phone > System Updates to download yours.
