The Lenovo Vibe K5 and Vibe K5 Plus have been introduced in February 2016 during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Following the official presentation, the duo was released in China, and later in March 2016 the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus became available for pre-order in India. Today the non-Plus variant made a comeback to the headlines, as prospective customers in Europe can now pre-purchase the Lenovo Vibe K5 for the price of €199.
To be precise, the Lenovo Vibe K5 has become available for pre-order in Greece where the smartphone is accompanied by a price tag of €199, which translates to roughly $224 at today’s conversion rate. It’s not a bad price for the configuration, but considering the fact that the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus has been released in India for the price equivalent of €113, the Lenovo Vibe K5 in Greece does have a price tag higher than expected. In any case, assuming that you are interested in owning a Lenovo Vibe K5 in Europe / Greece and the price tag is not an issue, then what you can expect from the smartphone – spec-wise – is a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 720, a Qualcomm MSM8929 Snapdragon 415 chipset featuring a quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU clocked at up to 1.5 GHz per core, plus an additional Cortex-A53 quad-core unit operating at frequencies of up to 1.2 GHz, an Adreno 405 graphics chip, and 2 GB of RAM. Users have 16 GB of on-board storage at their disposal which can be expanded by up to an additional 32 GB via microSD, and they rely on a 13-megapixel main camera for taking pictures, as well as a 5 MP front-facing unit for selfies.
It’s worth noting that the smartphone is powered by a Li-Ion 2,750 mAh battery, it runs Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, has Dolby Audio, an FM radio, Bluetooth 4.1, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity. Last but not least, all of the components above are wrapped in a metal body which can be acquired in silver or gold flavors. The Lenovo Vibe K5 is available for pre-order online via the Lenovo Exclusive website in Greece, but as yet we have no word on when the terminals will start shipping to consumers.
