LG recently trademarked four new devices which seem to be part of the fresh “X” series, currently accommodating two mid-range smartphones. The four new devices carry the “X Slim”, “X Classic”, “X Suit” and “X Skin” monikers, and the smartphone maker seems to have applied for trademarking these brands in South Korea last week, hinting at what could be an imminent market release in the company’s homeland.
This year LG released a handful of interesting products, ranging from the LG G5 and its “Friends” modules to the new “K” series and the “LG X” lineup featuring the LG X Cam and LG X Screen. However, it appears that the Korean tech giant might want and expand the “X” series even further, by adding four new devices into the mix. It isn’t clear if all four devices are smartphones, but for the sake of consistency, we will consider them part of the X lineup. In any case, they are called the X Slim, X Classic, X Suit, and X Skin, and needless to say, these names could hold the secret of what the handsets’ biggest selling points might be. For instance, the LG X Cam uses a dual-camera setup similar to the LG G5 but keeps other components at a mid-range level. On the other hand, the LG X Screen uses a secondary display, not unlike last year’s LG V10 premium flagship. With that being said, we can only assume that the “LG X Slim” will be a thin smartphone, and that the “LG X Skin” could feature premium materials for a higher quality feel in the hand. But at this point, your guesses are as good as ours.
Although no hardware specifications have been revealed in regards to what might make the rest of the LG X series tick, the fact that the company already trademarked the monikers could indicate a market release just around the corner. Assuming that the new devices will follow a similar launch schedule as the LG X Cam and LG X Screen, the handsets will first hit the shelves in South Korea and then gradually make their way towards the Latin American and European markets.
