Yesterday the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge have received a rather important software update, fixing some of the touch-screen related issues experienced by certain users since the flagships’ release. Now it appears that a similar, yet larger software update has been launched for the two premium smartphones in India, bringing the same changes along with several other fixes and additions.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in India seem to have received one of the largest software updates released by Samsung lately. It contains the same fixes as the update launched earlier this week, meaning that the touchscreen-related issues have been fixed, along with a couple of bugs related to invalid repetition of recent key input and screen palm rejection. The changelog also mentions a handful of camera improvements, including a new function to correct the mirror distortion that can be caused by wide-angle lenses. The yellow tint that could occur in pictures captured in low-light condition has been fixed too. Other features mentioned by the changelog include improvements to haptic vibration, lower compass power consumption, the addition of the Mobile Print plugin and the CNN News Edge Panel, and the fixing of various bugs linked with data connection failures and network reconnecting errors. Last but not least, music played through music streaming applications should no longer stop when the user accesses social media applications in parallel. Needless to say, this is probably one of the largest software updates released by Samsung over the past year or so, and aims to improve the user experience for the Galaxy S7 lineup which already earned a lot of praise from consumers since release.
The hefty update is now available for download on the Indian Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, but as is normally the case with OTA (over the air) releases, it may take roughly one week before the software package reaches all the eligible terminals. If you’re eager to test the update yourself you might be able to trigger the updating process manually, by heading down to the phone’s settings menu under “About Phone” > “System Updates”.
