Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Gets Cherry Pink Flavor in China

The Sony Xperia Z5 Premium was officially introduced last September as the most powerful terminal from the Xperia Z5 lineup, and was the only handset in the series to offer a “Chrome” color option. Now the same Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has been confirmed to receive a Cherry Pink treatment in China, targeting female prospective customers who may be on the lookout for a powerful and stylish flagship phone.

The Cherry Pink Sony Xperia Z5 Premium was officially confirmed by the Japanese manufacturer on Twitter earlier today, and the smartphone is available for order in China starting April 12. Although the Xperia Z5 Premium is the only smartphone in the series to be available in “Chrome”, the flagship doesn’t hold any exclusivity over the Cherry Pink flavor as it has already been released for the smaller Sony Xperia Z5 several months ago. Either way, spec-wise the pink Sony Xperia Z5 Premium remains unaltered. This means that the smartphone sports a 5.5-inch TRILUMINOS IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2160 x 3840 and an unprecedented pixel density of 806 pixels per inch, as well as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC featuring a quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU clocked at 1.5 GHz and an additional Cortex-A57 high-performance quad-core CPU operating at frequencies of 2.0 GHz. In addition, the smartphone uses an Adreno 430 graphics chip, 3 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of internal memory expandable via microSD by up to an additional 200 GB. Photography enthusiasts will work with a 23-megapixel camera featuring an f/2.0 aperture and 1/2.3” sensor, 4K video recording, phase detection autofocus and HDR, as well as a 5.1 MP front-facing sensor for selfies, boasting HDR and 1080p video recording capabilities. The smartphone is also resistant to dust and water (IP68 certified), it conceals a 3,430 mAh battery, and runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.

All in all, the Cherry Pink flavor for the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is a welcomed addition, but with the new Sony Xperia X lineup on its way for a market release following its debut at CES 2016, prospective customers and Sony enthusiasts alike might want to hold off from purchasing last year’s flagship – pink as it may be – before the new series arrives. Either way, as yet there’s no word on when the Cherry Pink Sony Xperia Z5 Premium might be released outside of China and into the western hemisphere.
