Waze Brings its Speed Limit Notifications to the US

Waze is now a Google product, and we’ve begun seeing some of its features implemented into Google Maps – which is already arguably the best mapping app out there. However, Waze development is not dead just yet. Last month, Waze debuted a new feature where it would show you the speed limit and notify you if you were going over the speed limit. Something that most car makers have in their infotainment systems – except the notification tidbit. It’s a feature that has been much requested for Google Maps, and would essentially make for a great feature with Android Auto and using Google Maps for navigation.

When this new feature came out for Waze last month, there weren’t a whole lot of countries supported. In fact, the US wasn’t even supported. As crazy as that is, seeing as Google often debuts new features and services with a “US Only” tag. Today, Waze is bringing this feature on over to those users in the US. So now when you’re driving down the highway, you’ll see what the speed limit is. Especially useful for when you’re in an area that you don’t know what the speed limit is.

According to reports, this feature appears to only be available in a few States so far. Waze hasn’t stated that it’s available in all 50 States in the US just yet. But we do know it’s available in DC, Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee for sure. It should be available in about 10 other States as well. So you’ll need to download and open up the app to see if it is available in your State.

This is a great feature to roll out to Waze, which has already been a great app for helping you get around traffic jams. Waze allows users to report when and where accidents happen, as well as construction. This can help drivers get around those accidents and construction, and spend less time sitting in traffic. Because no one likes sitting in traffic, especially when they are supposed to be at work. You can download Waze from the Google Play Store using the button below.
