Xiaomi has already released a couple of devices this year, including their Mi 5 flagship, but the company doesn’t plan to stop anytime soon. They’ve announced that the Xiaomi Max is coming on May 10th, and that device will surely going to be accompanied by the release of MIUI 8, which is also something that Xiaomi confirmed recently. The company’s Mi Band 2 fitness tracker may as well be announced on that day, which makes May 10th really interesting for everyone interested in Xiaomi’s products.
That being said, the company’s CEO has already shown off the Xiaomi Max and Mi Band 2 devices, but we still haven’t seen anything as far as MIUI 8 is concerned. Well, Xiaomi has actually decided to change that and share their first MIUI 8 video, the company shows off a tiny piece of the upcoming OS. Now, if you take a look at the video itself, you’ll get to see Xiaomi’s Notes app in the MIUI 8, and you’ll see some actions used here which are accompanied by interesting animations. Now, if you swipe down in the Notes app, you’ll be able to open up a new note, while a double swipe up deletes it. The MIUI 8 will include some of that material design many of us love so much, new animations will obviously be a part of the picture as well, and an interesting new way to switch apps as well (gestures). Now, we’re sure that Xiaomi is planning to add a number of additional features in the OS, but we really don’t have all that much info at the moment, this is basically the most we’ve seen from MIUI 8 thus far.
Many people expect MIUI 8 to be based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but we’re still not sure if that will be the case. It is possible Xiaomi will release some sort of a teaser that will confirm this, but that’s highly unlikely, the company rarely talks about Android versions, so we really don’t expect that to be the case this time around either. Either way, you can expect some interesting hardware and software to arrive on May 10th, so stay tuned, we’ll report back if any interesting info leaks before then.
