VR gaming is still on the rise and will be for a while due to the early nature of available hardware that takes advantage of the capabilities of VR technology. HTC’s Vive headset already features quite a few VR games that are available through the Steam PC gaming platform, but all of these are developed by other companies. Later this year at Computex, HTC is poised to unveil their very first VR game that was developed internally by their own team. Right now the details of the game are a little bit limited, but HTC has shared some information as to what the game will include and what it’s about.
The game is called FRONT DEFENSE, and by the sounds of it, it will be a war game or perhaps a first-person shooter. HTC states that you will end up with a variety of different weapons at your disposal including grenades, anti-tank rockets, and various guns like submachine guns, pistols, rifles and more, and will be able to use these weapons on the battlefield to dispose of your enemies. Whether or not the game will be multiplayer is unknown, but if you’re into shooters and you own an HTC Vive this is one you may want to keep an eye out for when it’s announced later on this year at the Computex show.
Alongside the unveiling for FRONT DEFENSE, HTC will also have other VR software to show off, including a first of its kind VR fitness experience called Holodia, in which you can experience what sounds like training a virtual character, meant to mimic exercise. Another game that HTC will be showing off is called Jeeboman which is a fast-paced VR arcade shooter where you have to fend off an alien invasion, and a game called Ruckus Ridge which is a local and multiplayer party game that seems to be filled with mini games that you can enjoy with friends. Both Ruckus Ridge and Jeeboman are already available to pick up on Steam, so if you own an HTC Vive you can grab the games now or just watch the videos without having to wait until Computex to get a glimpse of what they’re like.
