Moto G4 & Plus Front Panels Leak; One Sports Fingerprint Scanner

The original Moto G was one of the biggest hits for Motorola, ever since its glory days of the Moto Razr flip phone that sold by the truckload in the U.S. and around the world. The company followed up its 2013 Moto G handset with subsequent releases of the second and third-generation Moto G models in 2014 and 2015, and now, the fourth-generation Moto G mid-ranger may well be just days away from being officially announced by the Lenovo-owned company. While Motorola itself has been tight-lipped about its upcoming mid-range handset, as is the case will most smartphones these days, various leaks and rumors have already disclosed a whole lot about the device that’s being tentatively called the Moto G4 or the Moto G (2016).

While earlier rumors had already suggested that Motorola is looking to release not one, but at least two variants of its upcoming Moto G (2016), a couple of tweets by tech journalist, Mr. Roland Quandt (@rquandt), now seemingly confirms those reports. The tweets include links to a couple of pages on eBay’s German website, which seems to have put up for sale at least two versions of the Touch Digitizer Display Screen Assembly of Motorola’s upcoming smartphone. While one of them seems to show the presence of a cutout for what is said to be a fingerprint scanner, the other one comes with no such opening. It is worth noting that persistent rumors over the past few weeks have suggested that Motorola will likely launch at least two versions of its upcoming mid-ranger, at least one of which will carry a fingerprint scanner on it.

Various reports and rumors have also revealed a few more details about the upcoming devices. The company has already sent invites to a press event it’s holding on the 17th of this month in the capital city of India, New Delhi. While Motorola hasn’t revealed anything officially about the event, the global tech media believe that the company will launch its fourth-generation Moto G and Moto G Plus on that day. The company is also expected to host a simultaneous event in Brazil to launch the same device, so it looks like it won’t be long before we get our hands on the next-gen Moto G and Moto G Plus.
