There have been quite a few teasers, leaks, and hints revolving around Motorola as of late. One of the most recent centers around a series of customizable snap-on modules that can be used, presumably, with Motorola’s upcoming 4th-gen Moto X (rumored to be labeled the Moto Z this year) and the upcoming Moto Z DROID edition as it’s currently being referred to by some. While there is no confirmation just yet on what the phones will actually look like or what they will be called, one thing that is likely for certain is that June 9th will probably be the date that Motorola reveals these new phones along with the possible new “MotoMods” that have been making their way around the web.
The latest bit of detail comes through a tweet on the Motorola US official Twitter page, which states that Motorola will “transform mobile” on June 9th, which is the date of the upcoming Tech World 2016 conference where Lenovo is thought to be showing off new Motorola hardware. Although not entirely specific, the words “transforming mobile” certainly suggest that Motorola will unveil these new snap-on mods, or cases if you will, that will allow their new Moto Z devices to offer up a sort of augmented functionality as each case comes with its own specific feature, like a pico projector, and a JBL speaker.
The tweet also makes references to flipping, an obvious nod to the ever popular Motorola RAZR device which was used to tease potential new hardware in a video that Motorola posted last week. Motorola states that “snapping is the new flipping,” so again they’re likely suggesting that June 9th will be a reveal for the new snap-on accessories and that they’ll potentially be as popular as the RAZR as that was an insanely popular flip phone. Another thing worth considering is that the leaked image of the MotoMods seems to have the same shape as the leaked renders for the new Motorola devices, so this also suggests that both are finalized products, although nothing is confirmed until Motorola unveils them to the public.
