OnePlus managed to surprise quite a few people when they launched their OnePlus One smartphone back in 2014. This was OnePlus’ first smartphone, and was considered to be one of the best smartphones that year. The company has released two additional handsets since then, the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X, both of which arrived last year. That being said, OnePlus is expected to release their third-gen flagship, the OnePlus 3, this year, along with the 2nd-gen model of OnePlus X. We’ve seen a number of leaks regarding OnePlus 3 already, and now the company’s CEO decided to further hype up OnePlus 3’s arrival, read on.
The company’s CEO, Pete Lau, has decided to further tease the company’s upcoming flagship via his official Weibo (Chinese social network) account. He basically wrote that the OnePlus 3 fits in the hand perfectly, that it feels good to hold the device. This is really not earth-shattering news, obviously, Mr. Lau is only trying to hype up OnePlus 3, and we can expect quite a few more posts like this coming from him and other OnePlus executives. Now, the device itself will resemble its predecessor to an extent, at least if the leaks were accurate. Unlike the OnePlus 2, its successor will sport an all-metal body, but the fingerprint scanner will once again going to be located below the display, and the sound toggle will be placed on the left-hand side of the device once again as well. The back side of OnePlus 3 will resemble the design we’ve seen on the HTC One M9, and the Type-C USB port will be located on the bottom of the device, and will be flanked by the loudspeaker and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Now, according to rumors, the OnePlus 3 will sport a 5.5-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) AMOLED display, along with 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of internal storage. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core processor will fuel this smartphone, along with the Adreno 530 GPU for graphics. The 3,000mAh battery will also be a part of this package, and it will not be removable. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed on the device, and on top of it, you’ll be able to find OnePlus’ Oxygen OS. Fast charging will also be included here, though it seems like we won’t be seeing Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 tech here, but OnePlus’ very own ‘Dash Charge’ which was trademarked a while back. That is more or less it, the phone will quite probably arrive in July, though some rumors have stated that it might launch sooner than that.
