Report Claims Meizu MX6 Is Coming In H2 2016

Meizu is a very interesting company, this Chinese smartphone manufacturer has been growing at an incredible pace in the last couple of years, and has released some really interesting devices in that time. The company has introduced three smartphones last month, the Meizu M3, M3 Note and their new flagship, the PRO 6. The Meizu PRO 6 is the successor to the PRO 5 phablet which was introduced in September last year, and the timing of this smartphone’s released surprised quite a few people. Many consumers were expecting the Meizu MX6 to arrive before the PRO 6, but instead, Meizu opted to introduce the PRO 6 as a smartphone, not phablet, and release it before the Meizu MX6.

That being said, many of you are probably wondering when will Meizu introduce their next-gen MX handset. Well, if the newest report from Weibo (Chinese social network) is to be believed, the Meizu MX6 will be introduced in the second half of this year. The Meizu MX5 arrived in June last year, and it seems like its successor will be announced a bit later this time around, though we’ll see. Now, as far as specs go, we really don’t know what will Meizu include in the MX5. The company’s MX line of devices used to be their flagship line of smartphones, but in the last two years, that’s not the case. The Meizu MX4 Pro was the more powerful version of the Meizu MX4, and both were announced in 2014. Something similar happened last year when Meizu announced the MX5, and then totally blew it out of the water with the PRO 5. So, will the Meizu MX6 be a flagship smartphone, or will it be the more modest version of the Meizu PRO 6?

Quite a few sources are guessing that the MX6 will be the company’s mid-to-high end device, and that it will be less powerful than the PRO 6. Helio X20 has been mentioned as an SoC which will fuel it, and the 21-megapixel snapper has also surfaced a couple of times thus far. One thing is for sure, this smartphone will be made out of metal, and it will sport a physical home button below the display. Chances are it will be fueled by the Helio X20, but it is possible Meizu might surprise us all and include the unannounced Exynos 8870 in this smartphone, we’ll see.
