Two Meizu-Branded Devices Get Certified In China

Meizu has announced three smartphones last month, the Meizu M3, M3 Note and PRO 6. The Meizu PRO 6 is the company’s new flagship, and a direct successor to the Meizu PRO 5 which was introduced back in September last year. That being said, many people are wondering when will Meizu announced the MX6 handset, and judging by the latest info, that will happen in the second half of this year, quite probably June or July. Well, it seems like the MX6 is not the only smartphone that Meizu plans to introduce in the coming months, read on.

Two Meizu-branded smartphones have been spotted in the National Quality Certification Center in China. The Meizu L681M and L681, and even though we still don’t know which models do these model numbers refer to, it is quite possible we’re looking at the Meizu MX6 and Meizu Metal 2 which is also expected to be announced before the end of this year. Now, there’s also a chance that the 3GB RAM variant of Meizu PRO 6 hides behind one of these model numbers, considering that phone has surfaced on GeekBench recently as well. We can guess all we want, but all of those devices are expected to arrive in the coming months, and we’ll just have to wait and see which one will land first.

Now, we don’t have all that much info when it comes to specs of the Meizu MX6 or Meizu Metal 2, but the MX6 is certainly going to be a higher-end smartphone. The Meizu Metal (1st-gen) was introduced back in October last year, and was powered by YunOS (which runs on top of Android Lollipop), while the MX5 was announced last July. The Meizu MX6 is expected to sport a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) display, and 3GB or 4GB of internal storage. Chances are this smartphone will ship with MediaTek’s Helio X20 64-bit deca-core processor on the inside, and will be made out of metal. The physical home key will be placed below the display, and will double as a fingerprint scanner, and a capacitive back button (mBack). Meizu MX5 will come with Android Marshmallow out of the box, and on top of it, you’ll be able to find the company’s Flyme UI.
