Tablets have become a pretty important segment for wireless carriers in the past year or so. With almost everyone having a smartphone, and many taking longer and longer to upgrade their smartphone, tablets are becoming very profitable. Verizon appears to be getting a new tablet, this time from ASUS. Although there’s no information about when this tablet will actually launch on Verizon. However, we do have a few specs for this upcoming tablet. Those specs include a Snapdragon 650 processor, 2GB of RAM with 16GB of storage and a micro SD card slot. Additionally, it sports a 8-inch 1536×2048 resolution display. As far as cameras go, there is also a 8-megapixel front-facing shooter, and a 1.8-megapixel shooter on the back.
Looking at the photo above of the ASUS ZenPad Z8, it looks a whole lot like the Google Nexus 9 which was manufactured by HTC. It even looks like it has front-facing speakers on-board. That will definitely make everyone happy. We also have a Verizon logo on the front, located at the bottom of the display, which shows that this is indeed coming to Verizon. Although we may also see a WiFi version of the tablet come to market.
No pricing information is confirmed, of course, but it does look like this is going to be a mid-range tablet destined for Verizon. So we could see a fairly low price for this tablet. Likely around $250-300, at full retail. It’s important to keep in mind that this tablet is still rumored, and not yet confirmed. So we could see some different specs on this tablet when it is officially announced. We could even see a different name for the tablet.
Verizon already has a number of tablets available on their website. Including tablets from Apple, Samsung, LG and Ellipsis. However, this would be their first tablet from ASUS, and would be one of the first tablets from ASUS to be available at a carrier – aside from the few FonePad tablets that were available on AT&T. ASUS is one of the few tablet makers that are actually selling tablets and making a profit off of their tablet business.
