Samsung’s two latest flagships, the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge, are two of the best smartphones money can buy right now, according to large sections of the tech media. Not only do the two devices pack in the best hardware that’s currently available in the market, both handsets also come with Samsung’s redesigned TouchWiz interface, which is said to be lighter, faster and more intuitive than it has ever been before. However, no matter how good a smartphone is, you can always keep tweaking its features to get just a little bit more out of it, whether its raw hardware performance or new software features that make the device a little more user-friendly.
That being the case, the largest wireless carrier in the US, Verizon, is now rolling out a new update that it says will “optimize device performance, resolve known issues and apply the latest security patches” The update comes with software version MMB29M.G930VVRU2APD2 and while it includes some security enhancements as well, big red doesn’t say anything specifically about the inclusion of the May security patches being a part of the deal. One of the interesting new features that the update seems to bring to the device is a warning that will apparently pop-up when the SIM/SD card tray is left open. The update apparently also makes it easier to “check individual app performance and memory usage in the Application Manager”, according to the official changelog.
Verizon details a few more new features as well that will be added to the phone upon the installation of the new software. That includes “Easier instructions on how to turn on and turn off the Always on Display feature” and the visible dual clock that will display the current time under “Roaming” when traveling outside the default time zone set on the phone. The changelog details a few other changes as well, which, though not critical in the truest sense of the word, will hopefully make things better for owners of the devices. The update is already rolling out as we speak, so all users across the country are expected to receive their notification soon enough if they haven’t already.
