Later this morning, at about 12:30PM EDT (9:30AM PDT), the OnePlus 3 is going to be unveiled. Now we’ve already seen a ton of leaks on the new OnePlus 3, but of course, none of that is actually confirmed just yet. We do know that it’s going to be a great smartphone at a pretty low price. Unless OnePlus looks to get away from their history of selling high-end smartphones at relatively low prices like the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2, which were dubbed the “Flagship Killer”. For many, this may be their next smartphone, and OnePlus is doing something different, that most other smartphone makers don’t do. And that is unveiling the device in virtual reality. OnePlus is not holding a press conference for the press to get their hands on the device after the presentation, unfortunately. But if you do want to see the device you can do so through their app that’s available on the Google Play Store.
Using their App ‘The Loop” you can watch the launch with or without a VR headset. OnePlus notes in the description for the app that a VR headset is not necessary for watching the stream, but it will provide an optimal 360-degree viewing experience. The Loop also offers a VR shopping experience for the OnePlus 3, which is actually the first of its kind. Allowing customers to order the OnePlus 3 from inside The Loop app, in virtual reality. Definitely a much different experience compared to ordering a new smartphone from Samsung, LG, Motorola, Sony, or even HTC. The Loop app is compatible with most Android smartphones, so many of you should be able to watch the event without much of an issue.
The launch is set to begin at 12:30PM EDT, which is just over an hour away right now. The OnePlus 3 is going to be popping up in a few cities around the world through OnePlus pop-up events on June 15th (tomorrow), which they announced earlier this month. So those that want to get a first-hand look at the OnePlus 3 can do so, and even be able to buy the phone at these pop-up events without having to wait for it to be shipped to their door.
