Let's Take A Closer Look At The Mi Band 2 And Its Features

Xiaomi has released quite a few devices thus far this year, mostly smartphones, but there were some other devices like the fitness band this China-based company has introduced earlier today. The Mi Band 2 was shown off by both Lei Jun and Hugo Barra already (prior to launch), and the company has finally introduced it today. Unlike its predecessors, the new Mi Band 2 sports a display up front, and thanks to that fact, it immediately becomes more useful.

We’ve already covered the initial launch of this fitness band, and are here to take a closer look at it considering some extra info surfaced regarding Mi Band 2’s functions. First and foremost, it is worth mentioning that the MI Band 2 costs only $22 in China, and that it will be available starting June 7th, while it is already available for pre-order. The Mi Band 2 comes in Black color option only, but Xiaomi made sure you have plenty of watch bands to choose from, including Black, Blue, Green and Orange. Those watch bands are once again made out of silicone, which makes the really light and usable in pretty much every condition.

The Mi Band 2 sports a 0.42-inch Low Power Consuming OLED display, which is scratch resistant. As you can see in the images down below, there’s a physical button included below the display, and when clicked, it can display time, heart rate, steps taken and various other things. Xiaomi has improved their pedometer algorithm, which should improve the accuracy of the MI Band 2, and the ADI Motion sensor will make sure the heart rate measuring is done properly. The Mi Band 2 is also equipped with various other features, it can remind you to take a walk at a certain time, while it is also more accurate when it comes to sleep tracking compared to its predecessor, at least according to Xiaomi.

The MI Band 2’s band is made out of skin friendly materials, and the device weighs only 7 grams. You can unlock your smartphone using the Mi Band 2, and this fitness tracker can also notify you when you receive calls and messages. You’ll need to connect the Mi Band 2 to your device in order for it to work properly, and you’ll do this via Bluetooth, the Mi Band 2 is equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 LE. This device is also water and dust proof (IP67 rating), and it has the ‘anti-slip’ body, as Xiaomi calls it. The device’s battery (70mAh) can last up to 20 days on standby, and the company has also updated their Mi Fit application which now entered v2.0, and it features a better designed UI.
