As you probably all know by now, Mark Zuckerberg’s Twitter and Pinterest accounts were hacked recently by a hacker group called ‘OurMine’. That was quite surprising, though it seems like Mr. Zuckerberg’s password(s) haven’t exactly been all that clever nor safe. That being said, it seems like that very same hacker group now managed to hack yet another account from a well-known person in the technology world, read on.
According to the latest report, the three-man hacker team hacked into Sundar Pichai’s Quora account. Sundar Pichai is a CEO of Google, though I’m sure most of you are very well-aware of that. Anyhow, OurMine have been posting messages on Sundar Pichai’s Quora account, and considering his Quora account is connected to his Twitter account, they were basically able to post on Twitter as well. The tweets have since then been removed, but there’s a screenshot below this article if you’d like to check it out.
Now, soon after this news went live, OurMine released an official statement regarding this whole situation, they said the following: “We are just testing people security (sic), we never change their passwords, we did it because there is other hackers can hack them and change everything”. OurMine is trying to re-brand themselves in a way, and become a security firm of sorts. They say that they’re trying to make sure certain sites are aware of their weaknesses in order to avoid such security problems in the future.
On top of all this, OurMine also explained how were they able to access Mr. Pichai’s Quora account. They said that they exploited a vulnerability in Quora’s platform, a vulnerability that OurMine reported to the company already, but did not receive a response as a result. In addition to all this, it is also worth mentioning that OurMine managed to hack into Spotify’s Daniel Elk’s account as well, which makes them really good at what they do it seems. OurMine, luckily, did not do anything ill-minded with either of the aforementioned accounts we’ve mentioned, and they will, hopefully, be able to become a full-fledged security firm soon.
