One of the most highly anticipated devices this year comes from a small Chinese firm founded in 2013 – OnePlus. Their new device, the OnePlus 3, will be unveiled in the US via a virtual event scheduled for June 14. Buyers can put down money during the event to reserve their new OnePlus 3 – but the questions remain – how many variations will there be of the device and how much will it cost to buy their latest “flagship killer?”
All of the leaks are coming from sites in China – not OnePlus – so we must take them as strict rumors. However, based on other rumors and common sense, the latest news seems credible in scope and reality. There are to be four variants of the OnePlus 3 – two with 4GB of DDR4 RAM and two with 6GB of DDR4 RAM. Working our way from the ‘bottom’ up, we have 4GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage and looking at a price of about $349. The other 4GB of RAM will have 64GB of internal storage and cost you about $379, and certainly worth the $30 increase in price. The next two models will have 6GB of RAM and come with 32GB of internal storage and priced at $409. The 6GB model with 64GB of internal storage will cost $425 – still a bargain for a high-quality smartphone. Now remember, these prices are simply rumors, so they could be higher or lower than stated.
Other than the RAM and storage options, all four of the devices will have the same specs. According to the AnTuTu listing spotted, the OnePlus 3 will probably sport a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, like its predecessor. We are expecting a Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor and an Adreno 530 GPU for outstanding graphics. It looks to have a 16MP shooter for its primary camera and a large 8MP front-facing camera for selfies and video chatting. The OnePlus 3 will be running Android 6.0.1 with OnePlus’ OxygenOS on top. A 3000mAh non-removable battery will provide its power. The OnePlus 3 is rumored to include at least a partial metal build – but one thing we can count on OnePlus is to provide us with a high-quality smartphone at a reasonable price.
