Samsung is, as many of you know, currently the largest smartphone manufacturer in the world. This Korea-based company has introduced the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge flagship smartphones back in February, and has managed to sell quite a few units thus far. The Galaxy Note 6 (or Note 7, depending on which rumor you opt to believe) will be announced in Q3 this year, and we’ve already seen quite a few leaks regarding that phablet as well. That being said, we’re not here to talk about Samsung’s upcoming phablet, but the Galaxy S8 flagship which will be announced in the first quarter of next year, read on.
The Galaxy S8 is still a real mystery, which is not so surprising considering the fact that it won’t launch anytime soon. We did see several Galaxy S8 rumors thus far, and a new one surfaced in Korea quite recently. According to Korea Herald, the Samsung Galaxy S8 might ship with a 5.5-inch 4K Ultra High Definition display. This is actually not the first time we’re seeing this rumor pop up, but there you have it. Now, Samsung has already introduced their 5.5-inch 4K UHD display during SID Display Week 2016, and that display managed to captivate quite a few people. Samsung’s new 4K UHD display comes with 806 ppi, and is simply stunning. Now, according to analysts, the production yield rate for this display will improve significantly in the coming months, and Samsung might utilize it early next year, which means the Galaxy S8 might feature it. In addition to all this, it is worth mentioning that Samsung tends to keep the same resolution on its flagship device(s) for 2 years, and then move on, at least that was the case in the past.
We really don’t have all that much info when it comes to the Galaxy S8. A concept of the handset surfaced back in January, but that has nothing to do with the upcoming device, of course. All we can do at this point is guess what will happen, but it’s possible Samsung will significantly change the design of the Galaxy S8 compared to the Galaxy S6 and S7, though that’s just a guess. Either way, we will keep you posted, rumors will keep on coming, and we’ll see them pop up more frequently in the coming months.
