Special Edition Pebble Time Round Added To Kickstarter

Pebble was one of the first smartwatch makers to really popularize the movement, Pebble’s products are fairly versatile and timeless, but as with any product, there is always room for improvement. That’s exactly why Pebble put up a Kickstarter page to crowdfund three new products; the Pebble 2, Pebble Time 2 and Pebble Core. The Kickstarter has been up for a while now, with the campaign set to end on June 29. In the last leg, however, Pebble has changed up the campaign a bit to drum up some extra funding and offer something special to dedicated fans or those who like their smartwatches to be a little bit on the luxurious side. Called the Pebble Time Round Kickstarter Edition, this special version of the Pebble Time Round is only available to Kickstarter backers for now, with a wider release later on. Backers are, however, the only ones who will see exclusive laser etching on their new smartwatches.

The Pebble Time Round Kickstarter Edition isn’t terribly different from the normal Pebble Time Round, save for the materials and finish. The watch comes with an authentic black leather band, which can be swapped out on the fly thanks to quick release pins. The metal around the digital dial, however, is what takes center stage. Rather than the normal dull steel of the stock Pebble Time Round, backers can select a polished gold finish or a polished silver finish. Backers will also receive a matching clasp for whichever finish they choose.

The special edition of the Pebble Time Round is available to all backers, even those who have already pledged. Backers who have already put in their cash can simply get a refund, then re-pledge, this time going for the gold or silver. $199 will get you one unit in your choice of color, while $298 will get you a special package with one Pebble Time Round Kickstarter Edition, and one Pebble 2. Pebble will be sending out surveys to qualifying backers in July asking what color they may want, while the watches themselves are set to ship out in September. Both of those packages are limited, so if you’d like to get your hands on a Pebble Time Round Kickstarter Edition below retail price and featuring the special engraving, it may be wise to act soon.
