Since T-Mobile launched Binge On late last year, the company has kept their word in adding more and more streaming partners. Today, they announced their 6th expansion for Binge On in just 7 months. Additionally, there are over 90 supported streaming services on Binge On. Today’s expansion brings a slew of new partners including Azubu, Dailymotion Games, Eyegroove, PBS, PBS KIDS and much more. These aren’t your big name streaming partners, but PBS and PBS KIDS are good ones for parents to have, this way their kids can watch their favorite PBS shows without using your data. There are many others already included in Binge On including Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Sling TV, YouTube and many more.
T-Mobile also mentions in their press release that Binge On has “fundamentally changed how T-Mobile customers watch mobile video”. Noting that there have been over 500 million hours of video streamed over their network without using a single bit of customer data. Customers are also watching up to twice as much data from participating Binge On providers since its launch. Making it a great service for both customers, but also companies that have streaming video.
For those that may be unaware of what Binge On actually is, it was one of T-Mobile’s Uncarrier moves in 2015. Essentially, it allows you to watch video for free, without counting against your data, at a lower quality. T-Mobile touts this as “DVD quality” which is about 480p. As long as your fine with watching video at a lower resolution, then you can watch all the video you want, and customers are doing just that. Binge On can be disabled, so if you’d rather watch YouTube videos at 1080p or even 2K resolution, you can do so.
Of course, Binge On isn’t the only Uncarrier move that T-Mobile has done recently. Today is also a “T-Mobile Tuesday”, so if you have the T-Mobile Tuesday app, you are able to get a free pizza from Domino’s, a free Frosty from Wendy’s and so much more. T-Mobile’s other Uncarrier moves include Data Stash which allows you to stash unused data for up-to a year, there’s also Music Freedom which is similar to Binge On and allows you to stream music for free without using your data. And so much more.
