After being leaked at the end of May this year and weeks of waiting, the ASUS ZenPad Z8 has finally been launched. Taiwanese electronics manufacturer ASUS has teamed up with Qualcomm and American network provider, Verizon to finally announce the ASUS ZenPad Z8 today. Verizon already has an extensive lineup of tablets on their website. Tablets ranging from Samsung, Apple, LG and their own Ellipsis but the ZenPad Z8 is the first tablet from the Taiwanese giant known for their ASUS ZenFone smartphones. It is also the first tablet from ASUS to feature a Snapdragon chipset in the U.S.
In terms of specs, the ZenPad Z8 sports a 7.9-inch display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 (QXGA) and boasts viewing angles of up to 178-degrees plus it has ASUS Visual Master Technology integrated in it. The ZenPad Z8 comes with the Snapdragon 650 hexa-core 64-bit processor coupled with an Adreno 510 GPU which should provide adequate performance and a smooth experience. It also comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which can be bumped up via microSD card by a further 128GB. In terms of optics, the ZenPad Z8 comes equipped with an 8-megapixel PixelMaster rear camera and a 2MP front facing camera. Keeping the lights on this tablet is a 4680 mAh non-removable battery which should be sufficient to power the device throughout the day and it can be charged via USB Type-C. On the software side of things, the ZenPad Z8 comes with Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 out of the box and features ASUS’ own user interface, ZenUI. For connectivity options, the ZenPad Z8 has 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 4G LTE which is of course supported on Verizon’s entire network. The ASUS ZenPad Z8 is aiming to be a media powerhouse and to be true to that, the tablet features dual front speakers which hopefully will provide an immersive audio experience to users.
The ASUS ZenPad Z8 is available for pre-order from today on Verizon’s website exclusively and buyers will receive it on the 23rd of June, which is when it launches. As for pricing, the ZenPad Z8 is available on Verizon’s device payment for $10.41 per month for 24 months while the retail price without contract will cost you $249.99.
