Honor is Huawei’s subsidy, as many of you know. This company had introduced quite a few smartphones in the last couple of years. Their Honor 6, Honor 6 Plus and Honor 7 devices were extremely successful, and so were the Honor 4X and 5X handsets. The company had introduced several Honor-branded devices in 2016, and the latest arrival is the Honor 8 handset which arrived a couple of days ago. This smartphone was rumored for quite some time before it arrived, and it seems like the device might be on its way to the US as well.
Anyhow, the Honor 8 is a very compelling smartphone if you’re into affordable devices, especially having in mind its solid specs, and nice build quality. For those of you who are interested in this device, and would like to see what lies inside of it, well, you’re in luck. A Chinese portal, IT168, has released their teardown of the Honor 8 handset, they tend to do this often for new Chinese releases. If you take a look at the gallery down below, you’ll be able to see quite a few teardown images. Now, according to IT168, they really did not have too many issues while dismantling this phone, the glass is attached to the metal frame by adhesive glue, and the metal frame plays a huge role in keeping the components stay in place. The components are, of course, surrounded by thermal stickers, and the phone is well built in general. Do keep in mind that the phone isn’t all that resistant to drops or anything of the sort due to the excessive use of glass, this sure makes it both look and feel premium, but it’s less resistant to abuse.
The Honor 8 sports a 5.2-inch 1080p (1920 x 1080) display, 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of expandable internal storage. The phone is fueled by the Kirin 950 64-bit octa-core processor, along with the Mali-T880 MP4 GPU. There are two 12-megapixel snappers (f/2.2 aperture, 1.4um pixel size) on the back of this smartphone, and a single 8-megapixel camera (f/2.4 aperture) up front. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the Honor 8, and on top of it, you’ll be able to find Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) 4.1 skin. The phone packs in a 3,000mAh non-removable battery, and comes in Pearl White, Midnight Black, Sunrise Gold, Sakura Pink and Sapphire Blue color variants.
