The LG Stylus 2 Plus was officially introduced in May as a more powerful take on the non-Plus variant launched earlier in the year. Now the US variant known by the “LG Stylo 2 Plus” moniker has landed Stateside through MetroPCS, and although the smartphone is normally priced at $219, prospective buyers can now acquire the device from the carrier’s website for the reduced price of $149 after a mail-in rebate.
In a nutshell, the LG Stylo 2 Plus is a mid-range phablet equipped with a generous 5.7-inch display and a stylus, which is somewhat of a rare sight today, with the exception of a couple of iconic brands and models such as the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. Evidently, the stylus can be used to write down notes in conjunction with a variety of productivity tools, and can even be utilized when the screen is turned off, all thanks to a feature called “Screen-off Memo”. It’s worth noting that the 5.7-inch panel is an In-Cell LCD type and has a resolution of 1280 x 720. As for what makes this smartphone tick, the LG Stylo 2 Plus is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC with four CPU cores clocked at 1.4 GHz each, an Adreno 505 graphics chip, and 2 GB of RAM. Additionally, the device offers 16 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded through a microSD card by up to an additional 32 GB. Fans of mobile photography can look forward to a 13-megapixel main camera coupled with an LED flash, as well as a 5-megapixel front-facing sensor which benefits from Gesture Shot and Selfie Light technologies for better selfies. Connectivity-wise, this smartphone offers 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi calling, NFC, and Bluetooth. All the components rely on a 2,900 mAh battery rated at up to 460 hours of standby time and 20 hours of talk time, and of course, the smartphone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Last, but definitely not least, the LG Stylo 2 Plus follows certain LG design guidelines and so it incorporates a rear-fitted fingerprint scanner flanked by a physical volume rocker.
As mentioned above, the LG Stylo 2 Plus at MetroPCS is now available for $149, down from the original price of $219 after a $70 mail-in rebate. It might make for quite an interesting package, especially given the fact that not many of today’s smartphones are paired with a stylus.
