Samsung usually releases quite a few smartphones per year, and this year is no exception. This Korea-based company had introduced a number of devices since January, including their Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge flagship smartphones. That being said, we’re not here to talk about the company’s premium offerings, but their more affordable handsets. The company had introduced the Galaxy On5 and On7 smartphones back in October last year, and there were some rumors that Samsung might introduce second-gen Galaxy On5 and On7 devices sometime soon. Well, Samsung did introduce these two phones, but their ‘Pro’ variants, rather than next-gen offerings, even though these phones are, in a way, successors to the Galaxy On5 and On7.
The Galaxy On5 and On7 were originally introduced in China, and the company has decided to release the ‘Pro’ models in India first. The Samsung Galaxy On5 Pro features a 5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of native storage (expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card). This smartphone is fueled by the Exynos 3475 quad-core SoC running at 1.3GHz, which ships with the Mali-T720 GPU. The 8-megapixel shooter (f/2.2 aperture) is placed on the back of the Galaxy On5 Pro, while you’ll find a 5-megapixel snapper (f/2.2 aperture) on the phone’s front side. The 2,600mAh battery is also a part of this package, and you’ll also find two SIM card slots here. The phone measures 142.2 x 72.1 x 8.5mm, weighs 149 grams, and ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the company’s TouchWiz UI on top of it.
The Galaxy On7 Pro, on the other hand, features a 5.5-inch 720p (1280 x 720) display, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable internal storage. This smartphone is fueled by the Snapdragon 410 64-bit quad-core SoC running at 1.2GHz, along with the Adreno 306 GPU for graphics. The 13-megapixel camera unit (f/2.2 aperture) is located on the back of the device, and a 5-megapixel shooter (f/2.2 aperture) can be found up front. The 3,000mAh battery is placed on the inside of this device, and Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the phone, and so does the company’s TouchWiz UI. There are two SIM card slots available here as well, while the device measures 151.8 x 77.5 x 8.2mm, and weighs 172 grams. These two phones come in Black and Gold color variants, and are priced at Rs. 9,190 ($137) and Rs. 11,190 ($167), respectively. The two phones are exclusively available from Amazon India, in case you’d like to pick one up.
