Video Camera Comparison: Galaxy S7, Xperia X Performance, Mi 5, OnePlus 3

Samsung’s Galaxy S7 line is widely considered to be one of the best, if not the very best, camera on a smartphone currently on the market. We’ve taken a look at this camera in depth before and found that in many scenarios the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are some amazing performers, but they don’t always win in everything. This year has brought us some pretty amazing flagship phones from manufacturers like Samsung, Sony, HTC, LG, OnePlus and Xiaomi to name a few, but which one has the best overall camera? This time around we’re keeping the Samsung Galaxy S7 in the comparison between phone cameras, but are changing up the other 3 competitors to see which of the latest phones can go toe-to-toe with the Galaxy S7 and potentially win.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 was released back in late March for an incredible $350, making it the absolute cheapest Snapdragon 820 powered phone on the market; a title which the Mi 5 still holds today. OnePlus released the OnePlus 3 about a month ago now to great praise in the industry, and at $400 it’s only slightly cheaper than the Mi 5 yet still retains a similar 16-megapixel camera as Xiaomi’s latest flagship. The Sony Xperia X Performance, on the other hand, has yet to fully launch in all of its possible markets, but is the latest Snapdragon 820 powered device on the market and Sony’s highest end flagship for 2016, retailing at $700.

How much does price really mean in the end? With Samsung’s Galaxy S7 still dropping in price you can easily find one for under $500 if you look, and as such a powerful competitor encroaches on the usual more budget friendly names like OnePlus and Xiaomi it seems that price is quickly becoming a non-factor in the world of smartphones. This massive shift from sub-$1000 phones of just a few years ago to being able to get a phone with the latest and greatest specs for $300 or less is one that’s catching on fast, and for good reason. Is the video recording on these cheaper phones just as good as the more expensive ones? Find out in our video comparison below!
