It looks like a new variant of the Acer Chromebook 14 is on the way featuring a brand new Gold color; first spotted by Reddit user and then listed by Acer on their website. The original Acer Chromebook first launched just a few months ago and praised for its great design and stunning display, while still maintaining super low price.
The new Gold variant is listed as model number CB3-431-C6ZB and priced at $349, compared to the standard silver model which is priced at $299. Other than the Gold color, the Chromebook 14 doesn’t seem to bring any extra set of improvements or new features, which suggests the price jump is all about the precious metal hue. In case you’re looking for specifications, the Gold Chromebook 14 will sport a fully aluminum frame, giving it a premium and stylish look. The display on this Chromebook will be a 14-inch Full HD IPS display with a resolution of 1920 × 1080. On the hardware side, the Chromebook will be powered by an Intel Celeron N3160 Quad-core processor running at the clock speed of 1.6 GHz while the graphic side of things will be handled by Intel HD Graphics 400 GPU.
When it comes to memory, Acer is using 4GB of LPDDR3 RAM and flash storage of 32GB, sadly there is no option to expand storage further via external SD card or flash drive. For making videos calls, there is a 720P front facing camera as well. For connectivity, the Chromebook 14 comes with the latest Wireless LAN standard 802.11/ac for faster network experience and it comes with one USB 3.0 port and one standard USB 2.0 port. To power this all up, the battery on the Chromebook 14 is a 3,940 mAh capacity and as Acer claims, it will provide juice for up to 12 hours. There are no details available as of now about when this new variant will go on sale but given that it is now listed on the official website it shouldn’t be long. The Chromebook already seems to have a page on both retail website Tiger Direct and CDW, although there has been no mention of what other retailers will carry this new color of the recently launched Chromebook 14. Chances are it will be available from more than just Acer and the two above-mentioned retailers, and may even hit online merchants such as Amazon.
