CBS All Access Is Now Commercial-Free For $9.99 Per Month

Nowadays, there is a good number of Android apps available that are designed to make it easier to consume video content without having to subscribe to a cable service. There are those that offer an all-inclusive sort of subscription like Netflix and Hulu and then there are those that are an extension of what cable services offer, but at a reduced rate and for a reduced amount of content. Like the CBS All Access service which is available on a range of platforms including Android through the CBS app. An app which is compatible with smartphones, tablets and Android TV and provides access to CBS content, as well as some live content.

To make full use of the CBS app as a cord-cutter, you do have to pay a subscription fee of $5.99 per month. In return for that fee, app users receive access to a fairly wide selection of on-demand TV episodes, as well as access to local CBS live channels. However, this subscription service also does include ads. Although, if you are someone who would prefer to check out the CBS All Access service and do it relatively ad-free, you now can.

CBS has today announced that they are adding a new subscription tier to their All Access service. This one is a higher-priced tier and does cost $9.99 per month. However in return, the higher-priced tier does provide all of the benefits of the $5.99 subscription and is also ad-free. Of course, due to the nature of live-streaming channels, any live channels you do watch through the app will still end up displaying the same commercials, as it is essentially the same feed. Therefore, the new commercial-free subscription option does mainly only apply to the on-demand content. Which CBS now states is in and around the 7,500 episode marker. If you are already a CBS All Access subscriber (on the $5.99 per month plan), CBS has confirmed that you can simply upgrade your subscription if you want by heading over to the company’s website, logging in and changing to the new $9.99 per month plan. While new customers will be able to select the subscription service which suits their needs when signing up.
