Google is set to unveil the next-generation of Nexus devices in the next few weeks, which will run on Android 7.0 Nougat – which is supposedly going to be available later this month. There have been many leaks of what the device may look like, but we haven’t seen any actual press renders about the device just yet. That will likely change in the next few days, however. Now, a new 3D concept has emerged, showing what the larger Nexus may look like. Of course, this isn’t what the smartphone will definitely look like. As this is a fan concept of the device, but it’s always nice to dream about what the new Nexus smartphone could look like.
This particular Nexus that was put in this video is the “Marlin” model. Specs that are expected for Marlin include a 5.5-inch Quad HD AMOLED display with a Qualcomm quad-core processor (many believe it’ll be the Snapdragon 820 or Snapdragon 821) with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage (there are likely going to be other storage models available) along with a 12-megapixel camera on the back and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The battery inside, is likely to be a 3450mAh capacity. Specs are pretty close to what the Nexus 6P was, when that was released in late 2015. That’s not to surprising given the fact that specs haven’t really progressed much in the past 12 months. Of course, like this concept, these specs are also not confirmed, and may change before Google unveils these new devices.
The design of Marlin in this concept image looks pretty similar to the HTC 10 that was announced earlier this year. That’s not a huge surprise given that HTC is manufacturing the device this time around. Marlin has chamfered edges, with a fingerprint reader on the back, with the power button and volume rocker located on the right side of the device. There’s nothing all that special about this concept, and actually it may be the closest concept to the real thing that we’ve seen. Google should be announcing Marlin along with Sailfish – the smaller, 5-inch Nexus – in just a few weeks, when Android 7.0 Nougat gets rolled out to current Nexus devices.
