A leaked image of what could be the front of the new Nexus Marlin phone has surfaced this afternoon showing the device to be carrying some very slim bezels, meaning users who decide to pick up this device would end up getting a phone with a decent screen to body ratio. There have been quite a few leaks and rumors on the new Nexus devices to come from HTC lately, with some of the most recent being a leaked render of Marlin that was mocked up based on what is claimed to be information on the details of the design, while another recent rumor claims that Marlin will be made using metal build materials for the body while Sailfish, the supposedly smaller of the two rumored devices, would be made using metal and plastic build materials, most likely for a metal frame and a plastic or polycarbonate body.
It is entirely possible that the image leaked this afternoon is not of the upcoming Nexus Marlin, and such a possibility is mentioned as the screen was stated to measure slightly larger than 5.5-inches which has been the rumored size of the screen for the phone. In addition to slim bezels, the image displays a message on screen that shows the device is running on the Android Beta Program, although no other details are known at this point in regards to a software version as the image is cut off slightly before that point with any info that was visible having been blurred out.
There aren’t too many other details that can be made out from the image, although it is possible to discern that the phone appears to have rounded corners and a front facing camera on the left side of the display, which does match up with the leaked renders of Marlin as those also show a left-side placement for the front facing camera. The top speaker or earpiece is also in view. There have been rumors that Google may end up launching Android 7.0 Nougat this week, and Google typically launches new versions of Android software alongside new hardware, so there is a small chance that Google may end up announcing the Nexus phones in the very near future as well.
