Meizu M3e Star Trek Edition Is Now Official in China

Star Trek is one of the most popular series / movie franchises out there. The ‘Star Trek: Beyond’ movie played in cinemas earlier this year, and interestingly enough, several images of Star Trek-branded Meizu smartphone surfaced quite recently. That device sported the Starfleet Academy logo and the Star Trek brand name on its back, and we were wondering if the leak is legit and when will Meizu introduce that smartphone. Well, the device is now official, read on.

It turns out this is a limited edition Meizu-branded smartphone, and the device is called Meizu M3e Star Trek Edition. So, this is essentially a Meizu M3e smartphone which was introduced on August 10th, but it sports the Star Trek branding. Now, the retail box of this smartphone also comes with Star Trek branding, and it seems like Meizu also included some Star Trek software on the phone in form of wallpapers, custom boot screen, themes and some other design details. The device is going to be available in China starting today for the equivalent of $225, and those of you who live in China can purchase it through the company’s online store (Meizu Mall). Chances are this device won’t be available outside of China, though it is possible you’ll be able to purchase it through third party resellers at some point. It is also worth mentioning that Meizu will manufacture only 5,000 Meizu M3e Star Trek Edition units, this is a limited edition handset after all.

The Meizu M3e Star Trek Edition features a 5.5-inch fullHD display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable internal storage. This smartphone is fueled by the Helio P10 64-bit octa-core processor, and the Mali-T860 MP2 GPU is also a part of this package. The non-removable 3,100mAh battery is included on the inside, and the device’s mBack physical home button doubles as a capacitive back key and the fingerprint scanner. The 13-megapixel shooter is placed on the back of this device, and a 5-megapixel camera can be found up front. Android 5.1 Lollipop comes pre-installed here, and on top of it, you’ll get Meizu’s Flyme UI. This is also a dual-SIM handset, and the phone also supports 4G LTE connectivity
