Since the coming of smartphones, the manufacturing and sale of flip phones, or better known as clamshell phones, has dropped drastically. While most people prefer a regular smartphone, there still are people out there who prefer clamshell phones which are smart. With that, Samsung has been releasing clamshell smartphones to cater to consumers who still use these devices. It seems that the South Korean electronics company is working on a new flip phone, and it happens to be the follow up to last years Samsung Galaxy Folder. The second generation of the Galaxy Folder has already showed up on certification websites such as the FCC and TENAA. Promo images along with specs of the upcoming device has also been leaked quite extensively, and now images of the Samsung Galaxy Folder 2 itself has been leaked.
The leaked images which surfaced on popular Chinese social media platform, Weibo detail the upcoming clamshell smartphones from all angles. Based on the leaked images, it can be seen that the device will be maintaining quite a slim profile. On the left hand side of the device, a singular button can be seen, while the right hand side of the device is clear of any buttons. As for the bottom of the device, a micro USB port can be seen, which will be used for charging the device. As for the rumored specs, the Galaxy Folder 2 is to pack a 3.8-inch display and will be powered by a Snapdragon 425 SoC, backed by an Adreno 308 GPU to handle graphics. For memory, the device will come with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card slot. An 8-megapixel shooter will be on the rear while the front will receive a 5-megapixel shooter. Under the hood, it will pack a 1950mAh battery to power the device. On the software side of things, the Galaxy Folder 2 will come with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box and not the latest Android 7.0 Nougat.
The Galaxy Folder 2 is expected to cost consumers $250, and it is also expected to be launched in the US and China soon. There is no mention whether this device will be named the Galaxy Folder 2, but it being a follow up to last years Galaxy Folder, it is expected to be named so. Do take note that these are only leaked images and not official images released by Samsung themselves.
