According to latest reports, the Grace UX user interface will not only make its way to the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, but will do so in a somewhat different and improved form once Android 7.0 Nougat finally debuts on Samsung’s two flagships later this year. This information surfaced less than 24 hours after a leaked benchmark report revealed that the new version of the most popular mobile operating system on the planet is being tested on Samsung Galaxy S7. More specifically, the successor to TouchWiz that has so far only been available on the Galaxy Note 7 will debut on Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge with the new Always On Display features of the company’s latest phablet and additional performance tweaks which should ensure an even smoother user experience in comparison to the currently available software.
Furthermore, the Grace UX will feature more consistently styled and smoothed out app icons and some additional improvements to the status bar quick menu. Naturally, shortcuts and features related to functionality that’s exclusive to the Galaxy Note 7 will be removed in the version of Android 7.0 Nougat for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. Samsung has apparently been testing and tweaking the Grace UX since early July so consumers can most likely count on a smooth and polished user experience regardless of how the final iteration of this software for the last two Galaxy S family flagships ends up looking like.
While an official release date of the latest version of Android for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge still hasn’t been announced, several reports from August claimed that the software will be available in “two to three months”. In other words, owners of these two flagships can expect an update to be available as early as next month. Of course, the exact timing of the Nougat update will also heavily depend on where in the world you’re located and which carrier you’re using but generally speaking, Nougat should debut on the Galaxy S7 and its curved counterpart by the end of November at the latest. Whenever that happens, owners of the two devices are likely to be among the first people to receive the finished build of Nougat.
