UMi is a brand you’ve probably heard of by now. We’ve recently reviewed one of their devices, the UMi Super, and it turns out it’s quite a capable phone. Now, UMi had recently introduced another handset, the UMi Plus, which is a really well-specced smartphone which costs only $249. The UMi Plus sports a 5.5-inch fullHD display, 4GB of RAM and is fueled by the Helio P10 SoC, not to mention it also ships with a 4,000mAh battery. Now, it seems like the company already has plans to introduce a new variant of the UMi Plus, at least according to the info the company released recently, read on.
UMi has shared a couple of images on their official Facebook page, and our source at the company provided some additional ones to look at. The UMi Plus will get an ‘Extreme’ version soon, and the company refers to it as ‘Extreme UMi Plus’. Now, this smartphone will be fueled by the Helio P20 64-bit octa-core processor, which is a successor to the Helio P10 that you can find in the UMi Plus. Along with this SoC, the Extreme UMi Plus will pack in 6GB of RAM, and will be available in Black and Blue color variants. Android 7.0 Nougat will come pre-installed on the Extreme UMi Plus, and on top of it, you’ll be able to find a couple of software additions by the company, UMi doesn’t exactly put heavy skins on top of their devices.
Now, the company has also said that this phone will cost $299.99, which means it will be quite affordable, especially when you consider its specifications. Based on the provided images, the Extreme UMi Plus will be quite similar to the UMi Plus, but not identical, its antenna bands seem to be tucked away in a different place, we can’t exactly spot them on the provided images. The phone’s rear-facing snapper will protrude on the back a bit, and the phone’s power / lock and volume rocker buttons will be located on the right. This handset will probably ship with the same 5.5-inch panel as the regular UMi Plus variant, even though the company did not confirm that part. We also expect this phone to sport a 4,000mAh battery, just like the UMi Plus, though the company might opt to include a larger battery pack in here, we’ll see.
