Huawei is having a great year, the company has been selling quite a few devices in 2016, they’re still the third-largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, and in the lead in China, by far. Huawei had managed to outsell OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi and a number of other China-based companies in the first half of the year in China, and the company’s smartphones are also doing great internationally. Huawei had introduced quite a few devices in 2016, including the Honor 8 smartphone (which was introduced by the company’s sub-brand, Honor), quite an affordable device which both looks and feels premium, while it also packs quite a punch in the spec department.
The Honor 8 was originally introduced back in July, and it was pushed to the European and US markets last month. Reports were saying that the device has been selling really well ever since it launched, and Huawei, or should we say Honor, has now actually released some official numbers. The company has managed to sell 1.5 million Honor 8 smartphones since launch two months ago, as Honor’s Vice President, Zhao Ming, confirmed. In addition to that, Mr. Ming also mentioned that Honor managed to sell 100 million smartphones since the day they were formed, and that happened almost three years ago. These are some great numbers for Honor, that’s for sure, the company has been doing business all over the world, including both Europe and the US.
The Honor 8 is a really well-specced, sleek-looking smartphone. This device is made out of metal and glass, while it costs only $399. The phone features a 5.2-inch fullHD display, 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of expandable internal storage. Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 950 64-bit octa-core processor fuels the device, and a non-removable 3,000mAh battery is also a part of the package. The Honor 8 features two main camera sensors on the back, there are two 12-megapixel snappers back there (1.25um pixel size, f/2.2 aperture), while there’s a single 8-megapixel camera available on the phone’s front side. Android 6.0 Marshmallow comes pre-installed on the Honor 8, and on top of it, you can find the company’s Emotion UI (EMUI) 4.1.
