A recent commercial for Nest that was aired in The Netherlands appears to have have showed off the Google Pixel smartphone that is rumored to be announced next month on October 4th, and although the phone being used in the commercial is only on screen for a brief couple of seconds, it’s long enough to make out that the design of the device on the back and on the front appear to look similar to what has been shown in leaked renders of the phone over the past couple of months, and with a similar design possibly being shown on video it’s now more likely than ever that the Pixel phone looks just as what’s been floating around on the web.
While the video is short, if you want to skip right to the point when the phone pops up on screen you can skip to the eight second mark to see the phone, where it’s being held by the woman sitting on the couch interacting with the Nest companion app. Initially the phone is shown from the front, then just a second later you get a shot of the back and this is where it becomes quite clear that this is very likely a Google Pixel due to the distinguishable two-toned back.
This leak, although probably unintentional by Nest, follows a recent leak from earlier this morning that may list off the potential price point for the Pixel, said to be at $649, with the cost of the Pixel XL being higher. Unfortunately the cost of the Pixel XL wasn’t mentioned in the earlier rumor. This is also in addition to a leaked Pixel XL benchmark from yesterday afternoon that lists the pixel XL will come with 4GB and RAM and that it will be running Android 7.1 Nougat for the software. Since this is just a commercial for Nest, there’s no way to confirm which device it is that’s being used to interact with the Nest app, but the design does look like it matches up with what’s been seen from the Pixel renders thus far. If Google officially unveils the Pixel and Pixel XL in the beginning of next month then it will be a lot more clear what’s on display in this Nest ad.
