After announcing a short while back that they’d be unifying OxygenOS with HydrogenOS, OnePlus has just released the latest update to the former for the OnePlus 3. The update, which is version 3.2.6, is based on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 and brings along the security patch level up to September 1st.
The update, which is a relatively small one weighing it at 40MB, hopes to fix a number of issues that have been affecting the experience of many users, but it won’t be available immediately to all users as it is only an incremental rollout. Among the changes are improvements to the camera quality, as well as to the 1080p recording capabilities. Looking at the display, OnePlus claims to have fixed some issues regarding the way adaptive brightness works, as well as the green/yellow issues that some users experienced. Also improved is the white balance. Other small fixes included Bluetooth connection problems with some vehicles and some improvements to voice quality in some instant messaging applications, as well as improved battery life when scrolling and improved touch accuracy when playing games. Regarding additions to the OS, the new update now allows third party applications to set the ringtone and developers and users will be pleased to know that Doze Mode and Pocket Mode switches have been added to the developer and display settings respectively.
The update, although relatively minor in comparison to the upcoming 3.5 update, still fixes some serious issues, showing the company is still committed to updating the OS, even after revealing its plans. For those wondering what’s so important about the 3.5 update, OnePlus confirmed that with this update both OxygenOS and HydrogenOS will be merged into one new OS, rumored to be called OnePlus OS. Users should expect OnePlus OS to feature a slightly heavier skin than most OxygenOS users are used to due to the necessity to cater for the Asian markets, while still keeping the overall usability that western users have become accustomed to with OxygenOS. OnePlus has confirmed this significant change is being made in order to better dedicate their resources and improve both the development and update process of their OS.
